I love Wix.com!
It’s gotten to the point where I have to dodge phone calls from friends who want me to build them a website or do some free design work. As much as I like to help out my peeps, committing to designing a website and building out someone else’s dream just isn’t a passion of mine.
I’ve been creating websites for years, and it takes forever to build, execute and troubleshoot. I’ve done my best staying on top of design shortcuts and trends (and um, buying awesome blog templates). Tonight I stumbled on a FREE easy to use tool for creating FLASH websites, Wix.com.
Registration is a piece of cake; email, username and password. Once you confirmed your email address, the curtains open and you can instantly access existing flash websites to customize for your very own. There is a friendly, easy to use user interface which will be the reason why I don’t get any sleep tonight.
Since Wix.com offers various art sizes to work with, you can create widgets, video skins, ecards, MySpace stuff – really the possibilities are endless. With over 10 years of professional graphic design experience, I still find myself taking tutorials and training to step up my game. Wix.com offers a solution for those with and without experience.
BTW, did I mention it’s FREE? Ah yeah, it’s FREE!
For a few bucks a month you can upgrade your account, increased bandwidth, support etc. This is a great tool for those of you out there looking to start up a small biz and don’t have the funds to pay a designer thousands of dollars for a website.
I’m still playing around with the tool, but for now I love it!

WOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH まって!(hold on!) How in the world did you do this?!?!?! Is this Wix? How’d you get it blog style…? Is there a template or something I don’t know about…?
ReplyI would totally agree with this!
With Wix, you can create high quality Flash web content without coding.
It’s like chefs, they don’t always grow their own produce and create their own ingredients, but they blend them to make the dishes. The same principle applies with Wix. Someone else does the coding, you put it all together to create an end product!
And, as you say, it’s free.
Great for amateurs and professionals alike.
ReplyI created sprayathome.com through Wix and think the site is AWESOME for the most part. You can create very attractive sites. The only downside is that you can’t verify it with Google. Basically since it doesn’t allow you to do HTML pages or add HTML in meta tags, then no web crawlers can see your pages, as they are basically blank to them since it’s all Flash. That’s a huge downfall. Now I have this great site, with no way for people to search for it! I just paid all this money and can’t get it to be recognized by Google
ReplyErin, your site is beautiful!! I would love it if there was a spray at home service in my town! (I’m a little addicted to the Neutragena spray). It looks like your site has the Wix.com text link on the bottom – I thought that was for free sites? If you register for their premium services, you have a 5 different levels of monthly payments – all of which are search engine friendly. You can even integrate their ecommerce solution and sell gift cards. http://www.wix.com/wix/api/pacakgePickerView Also, another way to drive traffic would be to link out to a blog – which wouldn’t be on the wix.com site – could be something like blog.sprayathome.com. You can use wordpress which has an all in one SEO package, you can also tag everything, post videos, etc. Between that and the organic traffic you’d get from your written content, you will easily increase your traffic
Don’t give up and good luck!
